Biography
Award-winning author Joan Clark writes novels for adults and young people, and is also
the author of three picture books. She has twice won the Geoffrey
Bilson Award for Historical Fiction for Young People and the Mr.
Christie Award. Her novel The Word for Home
is the only young adult title to win
Newfoundland’s Winterset Award. She has received the Vicky Metcalf Award for Children’s Literature, a
lifetime achievement award. Joan’s novels for adults have also
won many awards, including the Marian Engle Award, given for
life-time achievement. She lives in St. John's.
