What is a Saltbox House ?
A saltbox house has a peaked roof on the front of the house, and a flatter
roof on the back. This type of house was popular in Newfoundland from the
1860s until about 1900. There are still many fine examples of old saltbox
houses in Newfoundland. This one was found in Trinity Bay South.
